The Year 6 girls football team are the 2012 South London Champions after winning the 7-a-side tournament. Although they had never played together as a team, they managed to create great chemistry together and put together an unbeaten run over the 2 group games, beating Crawford 2-1 (coming back from a goal down with a great goals from birthday girl Reanice and then Katie) and drawing 0-0 with Oakfield. In a tight semi final against Oliver Goldsmith, Rosendale were victorious 2-0, both goals from Katie . The final saw us battling against local rivals Oakfield again. Recently substituted Loretta scored an absolute screamer from 8 metres out and Katie soon doubled the lead with a beautifully taken goal, taking her tournament tally to 4.
Kyra was very safe and confident in goal and was protected by Talia and Frankie at the back who were as safe as houses in a very safe place. Anniece, Sophia and Loretta were commanding in midfield, covering many meters over the 4 games and always dropping back to help Talia and the fearless Frankie. Reanice was a real revelation: powerful, quick, confident with a pile-driver of a right foot and Katie, voted player of the team by the organisers, worked tirelessly to ensure the team held onto their leads.
Well done girls, a truly brilliant performance and you should be so proud of yourselves.
