In 2014, we raised over £1500 for Sport Relief and we are planning to try and do even better this year, raising money for so many worthwhile causes. After a cycling theme two years ago, this year we take inspiration from both Eddie Izzard and our newly painted running track (thanks to the PTA). We will be walking, jogging or running the Sport Relief [Metric] Mile (6 times around our metric 250m track). The challenge will be continuous again, starting with Nursery and Reception in the morning and concluding with our Year 6s at the end of the day.
As usual, for a donation, children will be able to wear their choice of sport-related fancy dress on the day and there will be sport-related prizes for both the best costumes (as judged by me, so you might win if you wear a Sheffield Wednesday kit) and for the children raising the most money. If any of the children would like to undertake their own sporting challenges at school on the day, they are very welcome.
Sponsorship forms will be handed out to all children next week. Forms and money can be returned to the school office after Friday 18th March until the end of term (Thursday 24th March). Of all the money raised by the public through Sport Relief, 50% is used to make a difference right here in the UK, and 50% goes towards transforming lives across the world’s poorest communities. Thank you so much for your cooperation and I do hope the children have a marvellous day on the 18th.
